About The Clean water project.
Our missionaries work tirelessly to provide orphaned children in India with the basic pillars of a stable life. However, one essential need remains unmet: access to clean running water.
In the village of Nizampet, India, children are losing their families at an alarming rate. Without a stable home, many of these orphans face an uncertain and often harsh future. To address this crisis, Divine Word Missionaries established the Arnold Bala Vikasa Ashram Home in 2019 — a sanctuary for orphaned and abandoned children.
While the orphanage offers a safe roof and a place to grow up, it does not yet have running water.
Even simple daily tasks like washing dishes, cleaning clothes or taking a shower are a struggle. As a result, the children are often forced to skip baths, wear unwashed clothes and eat from soiled dishes. The dry land in Nizampet offers little relief. The community is forced to depend on sporadic rainfall, with all nearby residents competing for this scarce resource.
To end this daily struggle, we plan to drill a bore well, install a submersible motor pump and set up a rooftop water tank for storage and distribution. This solution will transform the orphanage, providing around-the-clock access to clean running water. For these 25 children, it means health, dignity and the freedom to grow up without the constant worry of water scarcity.
We need your help to make this life-changing project a reality. This effort is part of our larger 150th-anniversary initiative to build 150 wells worldwide, spreading the gift of water to thousands more. Together, we can ensure these children have access to the water they need to thrive.
